Generally, getting an uncontested divorce is simple. One party files the petition (petitioner) and serves it on (respondent). Since it is uncontested the respondent can file a notarized statement acknowledging receipt of the petition. If it is truly uncontested, meaning that the parties do not have any disputes regarding division of property etc, then you would need to prepare the order granting the dissolution of the marriage and both petitioner and respondent would sign b/f a notary indicating to the judge that they concur w/ the granting of the divorce. Judge reviews the filings and will approve the order and file w/ the court. An fair lawyer would charge you maybe $ 300.00 bucks at the most for an uncontested divorce. I’d suggest you carefully review your documents and get out a legal dictionary for any terms that you may not understand. Fill in the blanks and file w/ the court. It’s even possible to file the petition w/o paying a filing fee, if you are low income and file a petition for waiver of the filing fee. hope this helps good luck.
