I want to pay off the taxes, but not all the penalties. I also online drugs without prescription don’t want the State to garnish my wages.

and? the answer would be yes
pay up as soon as possible, this will haunt you until it is paid, and yes they can garnish your wages and also take your tax return, try and negotiate with them a payment that you can handle, most times they are willing to work with you, you will have to pay all the penalties, there is no getting out of it
There is every chance that you can have some of the penalties removed if you contact the tax office and tell them you are financially ready to pay off the taxes. More so, if it will be one lump payment. Let them know that you can pay it completely if they will eliminate some of the penalties. It worked for me in the state of VA. I’m sure your state will also work out a payment plan for you, but you must not miss any of the payments. It is a lot better for you if you contact them before they come after you! Good luck!!
Not sure how it works on the state level, but with federal, you can get in touch with the IRS and agree on a payment plan. State might be the same. Either way, don’t wait on this too long.
Two things:
Your attitude is extremely important. If they like you, they’ll be as nice to you as they can. If you give them a hard time, they will make it hard for you, dropping in on you at work, calling, putting pressure on you.
No matter how much anyone tries to tell you otherwise, DO NOT take the quick, simple way and pay it off with a credit card. I did this once and it started a downward credit spiral that ended up with bankruptcy.
Good luck.
