You don’t need a lawyer to fight.
All you have to do is show up on the court date on the ticket. You plead not guilty and then you show up at the date they set for your hearing. You don’t need counsel or anything like that. However, there are court fees involved, even if you win. So, between time off and the court fees it may not be worth it. However, if you consider the rate that your vehicle insurance will increase, you just may want to fight after all.
If it’s your first one, I’d pay the ticket.
how much was the ticket. Most laywers will charge $100/hour and the judge will still say no.
Pay the ticket
pay the ticket. lawyers aren’t cheap.
show up to court and hope the cop doesn’t show up to plead his case against you
if he doesn’t show up the case is dismissed
if you have a lawyer in the family that will do it free or crazy cheap then go that way. otherwise you can try to go to court and hope the cop doesn’t apper which will result in a dismissal of charges. paying the ticket is fastest and cheapest up front but will impact the premium you pay on insurance
Pay the ticket…or go to court and defend yourself…..alot of times the police officer that wrote the ticket doesn’t show up…and it’s thrown out of court.
Good Luck
Don’t pay it, get your license suspended, then get pulled over for driving without a valid license, most cops then take you to jail, then you have to worry about bond, then a more expensive ticket on top of the one you didn’t pay. Then you’d really have to hire an attorney so you can get your license back in the long wrong.
or pay?
Sounds easier to pay
Pay it or go to court and try to get it nolled. Lawyers are very expensive.
It depends and varies from state to state. In New York at 15 over the limit you get 4 points on your license and a fine. How much will your insurance premium increase and for how long. You can take a driver improvement course to reduce premiums and take points off your license.
Attorney time is expensive. What defense do you actually have to beat the ticket?
If you have the time, appear, plead not guilty and get a court date. Show up and hope the officer does not. Depending on the court, it may dismiss the case or adjourn it to allow the officer another opportunity to show. If the court adjourns the matter, ask that it be marked "Final" so that it will be dismissed at the next appearnce if the officer fails to show. If the officer shows, you have the opportunity to question him/her regarding the stop.
Worst case is you end up with the points and fine after spending your time, best case you beat it.
Even if you pay for attorney, you may still end up with points and fine.
Just take defensive driving to get rid of the ticket. Go to defensivedriving.com. It is very easy and about the same coast as paying the ticket. I have done the lawyer thing, it is just a waste of time and money. The lawyer tells you to take defensive driving. Check to make sure all the information the cop wrote on the ticket is correct. If they make a simple mistake as wrong date or wrong drivers license number, you can get the ticket dismissed. Godd luck, and do anything you can to keep the ticket off your driving record.
just pay the ticket its cheaper that the att. to fight it.
Pay the ticket or you could pay to have the car calibrated and pay for a lawyer and spend more money.
